Are we there yet? ... Almost!
Jesus came to preach the Kingdom, and with his resurrection, we have already been given a taste of what is to come. Yet, like the first disciples, we live in a time of here but not yet. A time when we are God’s witnesses to the Kingdom that is already shining through darkness, but not yet experienced in its fullness. It is a time of being guided by the Holy Spirit.
If you are anything like us, you are now really starting to get excited about the prospect of WYD in Australia – it’s really almost here! But before setting out, we will meet once more on Saturday, May 31st @ 2:30 p.m. Please make every effort to be there since we will be going over important last-minute details with the group. See you soon!
Australian Travel Visas
Most of you should have already received your travel visa from the Australian government at the email you provided for us. If you have not received your visa by May 9th, please contact us at youth@ocytoronto.org.
Latest WYD news
It looks like it is confirmed that the final mass will be at Randwick Racecourse. The organizers have also announced that the opening celebrations will be held at Barangaroo – right where our cruise of the Sydney harbour ends! We are also looking at booking a time for the group at the Blessed Mary McKillop Centre in Sydney. It’s a wonderful centre and will only be open to groups who pre-book.
Resources
As always, we invite you to spend time, both personally and as sub-groups, preparing for the pilgrimage. To help you with this, the following resources are available:
We will be commissioning all pilgrims in May but if you wish to do so in your parish as well, a commissioning service is available online.
The WYD mass setting has been released. Please click here if you would like to check it out and become familiar with it before getting on the plane. However, please note that this setting is for a provisional new translation of the mass that has not been approved for use in Canadian parishes.
We continue to look forward to being on this pilgrimage with you, and you remain in our prayers. Please do not hesitate in contacting us at (416) 599-7676 if you have any questions. Be sure to visit www.ocytoronto.org often to stay up-to-date with all the latest information.
Archdiocese of Toronto Prayer
God our Father, You sent your Son to reveal your kingdom giving us a share in it as your children. We ask that you send your Spirit upon us so that we may become your witnesses to the ends of the earth. Spirit of Truth, guide us with your Word that is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. Spirit of Love, teach us to love one another as Jesus loves us. Spirit of Fortitude and Witness, give us the courage to live according to the Gospel and to proclaim it boldly,
fulfilling our call to be salt of the earth and light for the
world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.
Amen.
